My apartment property manager texted me asking if I planned to renew my lease. If I text back “yes”, is that a binding agreement?

My lease is up in September. I have to renew by August 1st. They texted me asking if I planned to renew.

I guess I haven’t thought much about it…I haven’t looked for a new place at all.

If I text them back telling them I planned to renew, is that a binding agreement? Or does that only happen when I actually sign the lease?

If I tell them yes, but find something else, I can tell them no at the actual lease signing right?
