After following 50+ finance accounts, here's how I actually tell signal from noise

Spent way too long drowning in finance X and Reddit trying to work out who's actually worth listening to. A few rules that held up:

  • Track record beats confidence. The loudest, most certain voices are rarely the most accurate. I trust people who post their misses, not just their wins.
  • Attention isn't direction. A stock being talked about everywhere tells you where the crowd is, not where it's going. Peak buzz is usually closer to the top than the entry.
  • Be suspicious of the clean narrative. If something's framed as the obvious play, it's usually already priced in.
  • Specifics > vibes. People citing numbers, filings and dates tend to be more credible than people posting hot takes and rocket emojis.
  • Watch who goes quiet when they're wrong. The accounts that quietly delete bad calls are the ones to discount.

None of this needs a tool, you can do it by hand. It's just the logic I ended up automating for myself (it's in my pinned post if you're curious). Mostly it comes down to weighting voices by whether they've been right, not by how loud they are.
