I was tired of the limitations of the built-in dictionaries of e-readers, so I built my own **AI Dictionary** plugin for **KOReader**, and it's completely free and open source. I have been using and improving it for close to a year now, and I can't imagine going back to regular dictionaries.

Unlike traditional dictionaries, It gives you the definition of your selected text **IN CONTEXT**, and also keeps in mind **the content of the book** you are reading (that means you don't constantly have to decide between all the possible meanings of a word. The plugin gives you the definition that makes sense in context). It can even give you the definition of fictional terms that only make sense in one particular book. It also works with multi-part phrases and idioms. What's more, it has an **Explain** functionality that can give you an explanation of the selected text in the context and subject field of the book, and it might utilize web search to give you a more accurate response.

You can find the plugin and instructions here: [https://github.com/SahandMalaei/ai-dictionary-koreader](https://github.com/SahandMalaei/ai-dictionary-koreader)

What's new in **Version 2.0**:
\- The plugin can now give you a personalized learning report and exercises based on your dictionary lookups. You can find it under KOReader's Search menu (the magnifying glass icon).
\- Optimized for speed and minimum latency.
\- Improved text formatting for rich text.

I originally built it for personal use, but it turned out to be so useful and transformative that I decided to share it as open source so that it might help others with their reading and learning. I'd love to hear what you think. Cheers! 🥂
