[Hobby][UE5] Looking for a group to learn, talk design, & peer review progress

Team Needed

Hello I'm a solo dev who's not really looking for a team as of yet. However, I did want to reach out here to see if anyone is feeling the same way...

All I'm looking for right now are some people who don't necessarily need or want a team, but want other people who really enjoy talking game design. Set aside bias for a minute to just genuinely talk on things we're making. Get a vibe check on features to feel out if we're on a decent direction. Or just bounce things we've learned off each other to gauge best implementation of stuff we may want. I am the type who always thinks there's likely a better way to anything I do, I feel like that just comes with experience as you learn how little you actually know lol.

  • Don't need to have the same type of projects, I think there's plenty to learn from all genres.
  • Beginner or veteran doesn't matter to me.
  • Age... adults I'm 36, I'm okay with whoever really but if you near my age we can reminisce more lol.
  • Timezone... doesn't matter. I'm Japan.
  • Prefer fellow Unreal Engine 5 learners (I'm a C++ > Blueprints type)

For the sake of those who want to align interests I'll share my current project at a high level...

My project at it's core is a UE5 nioh-like.
I have zero art direction as of now and will cross that road when I look to hire.
(however) I do know my favorite styles lean towards realism and Sci-fi Fantasy / Grimdark / Eldritch Horror. I'm a 40k nerd lol.
I'm working hard on building out core features and tuning mechanical feel of everything before moving on to blocking assets & animations.

Again, not in the spot to fully team up since if my ideas don't ultimately feel good or fun to play I will bin them and move on.

If you're a 3d artist/modeler who vibes with what I said, by all means reach out let's talk. At best I could maybe offer you a practice environment or stuff you can portfolio. I have high respect for artists so if I decide to keep my project and enjoy your work I'd gladly transition to contracting you, if not then it's yours to do whatever with.
