I got the Suunto Spark today and have had some time to test it.

The Suunto Spark headphones are open-ear air-conduction headphones, making them Suunto’s first of their kind, rather than bone-conduction headphones.

These are my first open-ear headphones. I've only used till today normal earbuds or headphones, so I'm not the most experienced in this field.

Initial impressions of the app and UI were pretty positive. The app is clean and easy to navigate, but the sounds, like the metronome, sound like they are underwater and are pretty unclear. I don't know if this is normal with Suunto products, but I don't really care about those.

The build quality of the case and headphones was good; the metal trim around the case is a nice touch and makes them feel more premium. I would have liked an option to charge the case wirelessly, but I guess it's okay, as I don't really use that even with my iPhone. The stiffness of the arc is good; it makes the earbud sit in just the right position where the sound is the best, and it holds them in well.

So the headphones, according to my very little testing today, were actually very comfortable, at least compared to normal earbuds that don't stay in my ear; these do, and I love it. The sound quality, although I expected it to be pretty bad given the fact that these don't create a seal and therefore can't produce such good bass as normal earbuds, was really surprising because they have some bass even in the legendary mode. The quality is more full and plenty good for my bike rides.

The buds are pretty full of features, and honestly, most of them are really mid. Like the metronome, it's just bad they advertise it for runners or even piano players, but you only can change bpm by increments of ten, which is probably good for running but nothing else, and the sound quality of the metronome, it just sounds like it's in 8-bit, it's bad, I would just download an app on my phone if I would need it. Then the surround sound, they claim that it creates a 3D soundscape that stays in one spot when you move your head, but no, it just moves with your head, at least it makes it a bit more 'surroundy' and at the same time lowers the sound quality and makes it tinny, but what can you really expect from headphones made for runners.

In conclusion, I still like the headphones; they are good at what they do, play music, without all of the gimmicks. The preset and customizable EQ is also a pretty nice option.

I'll do an update later when I really get to use them.
