Anyone find a cooling pillow that's not a gimmick?

Honestly I’m starting to think “cooling pillow” is just marketing hype at this point… but I’m still hoping I’m wrong.

I run really hot at night and it’s been messing with my sleep for months. I’ve tried a couple of those “cooling gel” pillows and honestly they feel cool for like 10 minutes and then it’s back to overheating + flipping the pillow every 20 minutes like a broken record.

At this point I’m not even looking for miracles, just something that actually stays breathable through the night. I’ve seen everything from shredded memory foam to phase-change covers to “ice silk” covers and I can’t tell what’s legit vs just fancy packaging.

So I wanted to ask people who’ve actually lived with one for a while — did you find a cooling pillow that genuinely works or is it all kind of the same gimmick in different branding?

Also open to combos (pillow + protector + case) if that’s what actually makes the difference. I just want one night of not waking up like I’ve been sleeping next to a heater.
