Landlord non committal on the dryer repair cost
I’m not sure what h is trying to do. I rent a condo in North York since May. I was travelling internationally and got back this week to find the dryer not turning on.
I called the LL to tell him it wasn’t working and to ask if he knew anybody. He said he didn’t know a technician and I could find one, ask around etc. I let him know on Saturday the 13th.
So cut to Tuesday the 16th, I did find a Blomberg authorised technician who came in to diagnose ($89, added to labour if fixed) and said the control panel was fried and he had a board in hand and he could change it . I said yes. The total
Invoice including parts and labour was $600.
I sent the invoice to the LL and he has been losing it. Sending me some personal jibes amidst saying it’s too expensive, that a new dryer would’ve been cheaper, that I should’ve called him before going ahead, and that he could’ve found someone cheaper from his end. That I waited for three days, he could have sent someone, that I am a tenant and have no authorisation to do this, is this the first time you are renting etc..
Anyone dealt with something similar? Wondering if I have a real argument here or if I’m in the wrong here .what are my options ?
