Hanky dog was rooting and nesting last night in the bed. It would almost be cute but I like to sleep ON TOP of the cover with a blanket when my spouse is out of town

Lab doing lab things

for the sake of arguing about the cover (I don’t think it will happen but you never know what to expect with comments) I like to sleep on top of the covers as a 50F Who has typical my age issues including night sweats. (I am working on hormone balancing. sorry for tmi, it’s just part of the explanation for all of this).

ANYWAY, last night was the third night with just hanky dog, tater and myself at the house. Sunday and Monday nights, I slept on top of the covers with a blanket.

I am getting ready to get in bed last night after my shower and Hanky does this number in the video.

Google says that it’s rooting/nesting thing, he could be searching out our scents.

also temperature control whereas tater is fat (working on it) he is more hot natured and loves to sleep right in front of the window unit (Tater loves cold so much that when it froze over and the ground was solid frozen over with ice, he went and laid down on it and didn’t want to get up. I think he was born in the wrong temperature zone and would be happy somewhere with snow all of the time!), and hanky is normal weight. When the AC is running, he is curled up in a ball trying to stay warm so I usually have a throw or kids blanket to throw over him. it’s obvious that he was cold because when the blanket goes on, he uncurls and stretches out.

it’s SO FUNNY how each puppy dog has their own personalities, quirks, and way. These guys came from the same parents. There is a year difference in them.

It also says this is a way to deal with the stress of missing the absent “pack member.” I believe that one too. my mom-n-law actually asked if he was looking for my husband in there. I actually wondered that for a second but then remembered hanky is that same guy who watched my husband leave out of the drive way. This is the same dog that when I got the talking buttons from Amazon, I pressed all of them once so they could see what all they said. Then, sat down and was trying to show tater “treat” and push the button.

HANKy dog got frustrated while watching (hadn’t even taught him anything yet, like I said HE WAS JUST WATCHING me with tater). Hank goes and gets his ball, pushes the “outside” button, goes to stand by the door, and does a play bow.

anyway, I would love to know if anyone has had experience with thier lavs/or other dogs doing this rooting stuff in the bed. I have seen them rearrange the pillows on couches millions of times. I KNOW that is rooting/nesting den behavior.
