Cuti success story
I thought I would share the story of curing my recurrent UTI, to help give hope to anyone currently struggling.
This time last I would have a UTI forever. I had one for six months straight, and prior to that I have always been prone to UTIs since being a teenager (a handful per year) it was resistant to trimethoprim but would respond to nitrofutinoin, (ecoli) but then after just days or a week free of symptoms it would always come back. i’m a sociable person, but I started avoiding going out because I just knew I would most likely get a UTI. I was hypervigilant to symptoms which made me stressed and unhappy.
The thing that ultimately worked for me was Hiprex. It didn’t work instantly, so I didn’t always believe it was going to work for me. for it to be effective, I have to take at least two per day, but when I had an active infection towards the start I would sometimes take 3. I also took two weeks of nitrofutinoin at the beginning which I believe helped kickstart clearing my stubborn AF infection; Hiprex then seeming to suppress any remaining bacteria long enough for me to recover.
im currently still on Hiprex prophylactically, but regularly forget to take it because my symptoms are gone, which feels amazing to say. I have been symptom free for 3 months.
Please advocate for yourself at the doctors. Ask outright for the medications you want to try, as a community er probably know more about UTI than many GPs do don’t be afraid to make suggestions. Most of all, don’t give up! There is a light at the end of the tunnel!
