I noticed something weird after tracking how I clean
After paying more attention to my cleaning habits, I realized I spend far more time figuring out what to do next than actually doing the tasks.
The actual work usually isn't that difficult.
What's difficult is constantly switching attention between things that all seem equally important in the moment.
When I think back to the days when cleaning felt easier, it's usually because there was already some kind of structure in place. The less I have to make decisions on the fly, the less overwhelming everything feels.
I used to think motivation was the problem. Now I'm starting to think decision-making is a much bigger part of it than I realized.
