Homeless locations

If someone wanted to do a good deed and distribute some food or useful things to homeless people, where would be a good location to find people in need?

Not interested in organisations or NGOs.. looking for people who are not in the system. Say a random bolt food order and just giving it away, or maybe essential (new) clothes and stuff..

Would it be weird and condescending or would they be appreciative of the thought?

Looking forward to opinions of people who have had contact with such brothers and sisters in need.
