Do you prefer the gods portrayed as abstract or personified?

In the upcoming 2026 Odyssey, I think it’s been said that the gods Zeus, and Poseidon won’t be having human actors since they were going for more abstract primal forces than persons.

I find it an interesting idea, I remember the 1997 series had Poseidon as the very ocean itself.

What do you think, and or prefer?
