Tretinoin - irritation with waxing/plucking? Can I avoid area?

Hello, I want to start tretinoin for wrinkle prevention and skin clarity, but I pluck my upper lip and chin. I know that this could be a problem with irritation. Can I just put the tretinoin everywhere else except for those areas??
