2013 VW Golf Axle boot issue.
Long story short, a friend had to leave her car in my driveway yesterday because on her way home the brake caliper on the front driver side locked up. she continued to drive on it until she got here. When i say that even the rubber of the tire was so hot that it would burn ya, i mean it lol. Im going to do the work for her cuz we are all poor shade tree mechanics around here. but i noticed the boot of her cv axle was popped off and a LOT of the grease (that got so hot, it liquified) had ran out. My guess is the heat got to the axle and boot area, maybe pressurizing it and popping the boot off, or maybe it just got so hot, it worked itself off there. Either way......Can i fill that bastard back up with grease and hope for the boot to go back home? The boot is in great shape other than missing its viscous contents and not being fully covering the cv joint. Im about to go out and pull the caliper and pads, and dick with what i believe to be the tire wear sensor wire that got so hot it melted. You could have lit a cigarette off the caliper when she pulled in.
