# Chapter 1 – The Days After Elfaria's Departure

After Elfaria reached the Tower and became one of the Magia Vende, Will returned to his ordinary life at Regarden Academy. However, without her by his side, that life became far harsher than before.

Professor Edward no longer hid his contempt for Will. During a magic class, he deliberately forced Will to participate in a ritual that required magic. Since Will could not use magic, the ritual produced a terrible odor, causing the entire class to mock him. Edward used the opportunity to publicly humiliate Will, declaring that someone who could not use magic had no place in a magic academy, let alone the Tower.

At the same time, Shion began constantly provoking him. He mocked Will's dream of reaching the Tower and repeatedly claimed that Elfaria had abandoned him. (He was rage batting lmao) Yet despite his harsh words, Shion strangely refused to let anyone else bully Will and often ended up injured himself after confronting other students. His actions made it clear that there was more to his hostility than simple hatred. (Tsundere from the start)

But Will's greatest problem was neither Edward nor Shion.

Ever since the battle against the Celestial Invader, something inside him had changed. Whenever he faced monsters, an overwhelming fear seized his body. His hands trembled, his legs froze, and he could no longer fight the way he once had. Even though he had no memory of what truly happened during that battle, the trauma remained buried deep within him.

While exploring the dungeon alone, Will was nearly killed by a Shadow Wolf. Just before the monster could tear him apart, a powerful wind spell destroyed it. The spell came from Ignor Lindor, an elf exchange student from the northern forests. Ignor looked down on Will's weakness, yet his words carried an unusual bitterness toward himself. Seeing the elf's determination despite his own struggles, Will felt an unexpected sense of kinship with him.

Afterward, Professor Workner discovered that Will had entered the dungeon alone and immediately dragged him in for a lecture. Although he scolded Will for recklessly risking his life, Workner remained one of the few people who genuinely wanted to help him. He suspected that Will's inability to fight was a lingering effect of his encounter with the Celestial Invader. He also reminded Will to use the goggles Elfaria had given him and began searching for a new weapon, knowing that Will could not continue fighting without a sword.

(Up until now will was using those googles as a lucky charm and not actually wear it)

Just when things seemed difficult enough, another incident shook the academy.

A girl named Colette Loire, known throughout the school as the Earth Princess, suddenly lost control of her powers. Giant stone arms erupted from the ground and attacked nearby students, leaving the hallways in chaos. While teachers Workner and Ferdi (Teacher from earth class) struggled to contain the rampaging Earth Golem, Will rushed into danger without hesitation. Ignoring his own safety, he rescued several injured students trapped by the stone arms.

Amid the chaos, Colette's empty black eyes remained fixed on him.

Later, Will learned the truth about her. Colette came from a prestigious Earth-magic bloodline, but her powers frequently spiraled out of control. The Earth Golem that protected her acted automatically, regardless of her wishes. She constantly wandered into dangerous parts of the dungeon and often behaved as though she had no concern for her own life. This latest disaster was already the eighth time her powers had run wild.

As Workner reflected on Colette's strange interest in Will and the similarities between their emotional scars, he reached a surprising conclusion.

Looking directly at Will, he gave him an unexpected order:

"Become friends with Colette Loire."

Not stopping there, Workner also declared that Will would accompany Colette during future dungeon training.

The chapter ends with Will completely stunned, unaware that this decision would mark the beginning of a new and important chapter in his life.

# Chapter 2 – Beside the Girl Nobody Reaches Out To

Following the incident with Colette, Professor Workner came up with a plan.

Will needed a weapon if he wanted to survive in the dungeon, while Colette desperately needed someone who could keep an eye on her reckless behavior. Workner believed the answer to both problems lay in bringing the two together.

The Loire family possessed a secret art known as Armor Magic, capable of creating weapons and armor. If Will could earn Colette's trust, he might eventually gain access to a weapon strong enough to fight with. At the same time, his presence could help prevent Colette from endangering herself or others.

And so, with Ferdi's reluctant approval, Will was transferred into the Earth Class.

From the moment he arrived, the Earth Class students treated him with suspicion and contempt. To them, he was still the academy's famous "No-talent."

Meanwhile, Colette remained as distant as ever.

No matter how many times Will greeted her, spoke to her, helped her with classwork, or tried to start a conversation, she completely ignored him.

During practical lessons, the difference between them became painfully obvious.

While Will failed to cast even the most basic earth magic and became the target of everyone's ridicule, Colette casually demonstrated overwhelming power. With a single spell, she created a gigantic earthen barrier so powerful that it not only blocked the attack but completely destroyed the training golem.

The classroom fell silent.

Will, who had spent years watching Elfaria's genius up close, was stunned. In terms of raw magical power, Colette might rival even Elfaria herself.

Yet despite her incredible talent, she looked utterly empty.

That loneliness only made Will want to understand her more.

Days passed, and Will continued trying to become her friend.

Every attempt failed.

Then, during lunch one day, he found Shion attempting to invite Colette to eat with him. Shion passionately explained how noble and talented Colette was, even praising her scent like some obsessed aristocrat.

The argument grew chaotic, and before anyone noticed, Colette quietly disappeared.

Will immediately ran after her.

Eventually, he caught up to her in a deserted corridor.

For the first time, Colette spoke.

"Why are you following me?"

Gathering his courage, Will answered honestly.

"I want to be friends with you."

Colette's response hit him like a sword.

"You don't even remember me."

Then she revealed the truth.

Months ago, after saving her in the dungeon, Will had forgotten her because of the memory loss caused by his mysterious power.

To Colette, it felt as though the one person who had reached out to her had simply erased her existence.

"I hate you."

The blunt rejection devastated Will.

Yet even after being told she hated him, he continued following her.

After school, Colette headed toward the dungeon alone.

Knowing her history of reckless behavior and near-death experiences, Will chased after her and followed her inside.

Deep within the dark labyrinth, the two walked together in silence.

There, Colette finally revealed what had been hidden beneath her empty expression.

She wasn't afraid of death.

In fact, she almost seemed to welcome it.

When she asked Will why he kept following her despite being terrified of monsters, he struggled to explain his feelings.

At first, he spoke about friendship.

Then he admitted the truth.

"I don't want you to disappear."

The answer surprised even himself.

He couldn't fully explain why.

He simply couldn't bear the thought of never seeing her again.

Before their conversation could continue, disaster struck.

A powerful monster known as an Ash Stalker, a creature that shouldn't even have been on the first floor, suddenly attacked.

Will was badly wounded and thrown aside.

The monster then turned toward Colette.

To his horror, she didn't run.

She simply stood there.

At that moment, Will realized the truth.

Colette truly didn't care whether she lived or died.

And for some reason, that terrified him more than the monster itself.

If she died here, he would never understand her.

He would never know why she suffered so much.

He would never see the possibility of her smiling someday.

Desperate, Will grabbed the Goggles of Promise that Elfaria had given him.

The moment he put them on, the darkness that had been tormenting him vanished.

The fear that had crippled him since the battle against the Celestial Invader began to fade.

Holding onto the courage Elfaria had once given him, Will charged forward.

He intercepted the Ash Stalker's deadly attack, seized its own blade-like tail, and used it as a weapon.

Then, with a single decisive strike, he cut off the monster's head.

The Ash Stalker collapsed.

The battle was over.

For the first time since his trauma began, Will had overcome his fear.

As the monster's body dissolved into magical particles, Colette stared at him in silence.

Just moments earlier, he had been trembling in terror.

Yet he had still thrown himself in front of death to protect her.

Again.

Just like three months ago.

Just like the day he saved her in the dungeon.

No one else had ever done that.

No one else had ever cared whether she lived or died.

As Will rushed over and desperately checked for injuries, scolding her for risking her life, Colette quietly watched him.

The boy standing before her was still afraid.

But despite that fear, he continued reaching out to her.

And for the first time, the emotionless girl felt something stir within her heart.

"...You're strange," she whispered.

It was the beginning of the first real crack in the walls surrounding Colette Loire's lonely world.

Hope you enjoyed reading it :)
