# A – Answer: What problem does your app solve?

Pala helps people who struggle with planning, time blindness, task overwhelm, procrastination, and staying consistent with traditional productivity apps. It was built specifically from my own experience after being diagnosed with ADHD, but many users without ADHD also use it because they want a simpler, more human way to organize their day.

Instead of managing endless lists and complicated project systems, Pala helps you see your time, plan naturally using conversation, stay aware of missed tasks, focus deeply, journal your thoughts, and build routines that actually fit real life.

# B – Better: Why is your app better than the top named alternatives?

I've tried most of the popular productivity apps before building Pala, including Todoist, TickTick, Things 3, Structured, and Motion.

What makes Pala different:

• Circular 24-hour visual timeline instead of traditional lists and blocks, making it easier to understand your day at a glance.

• Natural language AI planning. You can simply talk or type your thoughts like you're speaking to a friend, and Pala turns them into a realistic plan.

• Built specifically around ADHD challenges such as time blindness, task avoidance, missed tasks, and overwhelm.

• Timeline + task dashboard that keeps unfinished tasks visible instead of letting them disappear.

• Context-aware planning with weather integration.

• Built-in journaling connected to your day, tasks, and routines.

• Full Apple Watch support, widgets, focus mode, Pomodoro timer, productivity insights, and iCloud sync in one app.

Most importantly, Pala was designed to reduce setup friction. Many productivity apps expect you to become a project manager. Pala tries to feel more like a supportive companion.

# Background :

Hey community (and anyone who’s ever felt like their brain is a browser with 47 tabs open)

I’ve been sitting here staring at my screen for way too long trying to figure out how to write this post.. Not coz I don’t know what to say, but coz this one feels really personal.. My name is Pala.. wait, no. The app is called Pala. I’m just the person who built it.. Not alone.. I built it with the reddit community.

Pala means “a moment” in Sanskrit.. That’s why I chose this name.. Because life doesn’t happen in perfectly organized to-do lists.. It happens in moments.. the good ones, the messy ones, the ones where you’re spiraling at 2am wondering why you can’t just “be normal.”..

Before I tell you what’s new in this update, I want to say thank you to some incredible people who made this version possible..

First, u/Jumpy-Swordfish-249, you are queen.. I seriously don’t have enough words. You’ve been patient, kind, and ridiculously helpful from the beginning.. You point out bugs, suggest features, test things… I keep thinking I should write a whole separate post just thanking you.. You’re the reason I added the Journal feature in this update. This one’s for you, my friend. Thank you for being you.

u/Tangelo_Few — you’re a star.. You always motivated me to keep working on this app.. You spend your own time helping me improve the UI/UX, especially on the Apple Watch app... It looks nd feels so much better now because of you.. Thank you really.. Speaking of which, many user requested to have Apple Watch support, yes, full Apple Watch support is finally here..

Big shoutout to u/TheFern3 for catching that annoying search issue with the ā in Palā. Fixed. u/grUwe and again u/Jumpy-Swordfish-249, for pushing me on cloud security and iCloud sync.. it’s live now.

And u/dendyelo, iOS widgets are also added with this version..

Thank you all so much.

Now let me tell you something I’ve never really shared.. About 6 months ago, at 28, I finally got diagnosed with ADHD... I had no clue before.. tbh I didn't even heard about it before.. I just thought everyone’s brain worked like mine.. constant noise, wild scenarios playing out for no reason... like really wild (I couldn't stop myself thinking the unthinkable).. nd yeah starting twenty things and finishing none.. The guilt was crushing.. I called myself lazy, undisciplined, bad at adulting.. It affected my work, my relationships, my studies… everything.

Getting the diagnosis felt like someone finally turned the lights on in a room I’d been fumbling around in for years.. so I’m not broken.. my brain is just wired differently.. nd for the first time, I started working with it instead of hating myself for it.

So I tried every productivity app out there.. literally I have tried every popular productivity apps nd realize its not really helping coz the pattern was always the same: download → spend hours setting up → abandon within days (sometimes hours)... They all felt like another job.. like a data entry job...

So I built Pala to solve the exact problems that kept breaking me.. and here is how I solved it for me..

**First, The Circular Time Blocking Clock :**

No more boring lists or rigid calendar blocks.. Pala shows your entire day on a beautiful 24-hour clock face.. Its very interactive.. You can see overlaps, free time, nd your current moment at a glance.. I poured so much love into making it buttery smooth.. it runs at 120FPS with literally zero lag.. It just feels good to look at.

**Secondly, I Planning (that actually feels human) :**

Instead of forcing myself to tap through five screens to add “buy milk,” I can just talk to the app like I’m venting to a friend:

“Hey, I need to finish that report, hit the gym at 5, catch up on missed tasks, and call mom. Also plan my weekend with more healthy stuff and some fun.”

It plans your day for you. And yes you can now speak to it naturally, like Siri.. One user suggested this and I loved the idea, but I lost their username when they deleted their account. If you’re reading this, thank you...

**Never Miss a Task :**

As an ADHDer, things slip through cracks.. Even with this app.. So Pala has a smart dashboard that combines timeline + list so nothing gets buried.. You can reschedule or complete things right there.. without feeling guilty.. Or just ask the Pala's AI to pull missed tasks into today... "Progress over perfection, always"

**Context-Aware with Weather :**

We don’t live in a vacuum.. We live on this beautiful planet... So Pala pulls in weather so you can actually plan realistically.. Rainy Tuesday? Maybe shift that outdoor hike.. Sunny Friday? Perfect for the run you’ve been postponing... yeah like that you can plan your days..

**True Focus Mode + Pomodoro :**

Full-screen, distraction-free timer that helps you actually get into flow.

**Journals :**

Because we’re not robots. Some days you won’t feel like crushing tasks.. You might just need to dump your thoughts or voice-note how you’re feeling... So yeah journal feature is there that knows what you did that day and possibly why you feel what you feel...

**Productivity Insights :**

The app looks at your last 30 days and gives honest, kind feedback.. its important to stay motivated too.. so it tells you what went well, what you missed, nd gentle suggestions on how to improve... It’s surprisingly motivating.

And I did some important fixes too, :

Huge thanks to u/Gb5757870, u/aMythologist, and u/dudecheckthis for helping debug that nasty Reminders freeze.. It was an annoying bug.. And to u/Recent-Extreme6987 and u/Jumpy-Swordfish-249 (you are everywhere), again for notification issues.. that is fixed now..

❤️🎵 :

People who are following the progress of this app know that this app is and always will be community-driven... I’m not a big team.. I don’t have investors or a marketing budget... I’m just one person who loves building something that helps people like me.. If other apps are better in some ways, that’s okay.. My goal is simple: make someone’s day a little easier, a little less overwhelming..

If you want to support me and join the “founders” group (who have been absolutely amazing), I’m running the lifetime access offer at the price of a 6-month subscription. Just comment “**FOUNDERS**” and I’ll DM you the link.. It helps me to pay my AI api pricing and other fees.. Even if you don’t, I’d love for you to try Pala and tell me what you think.. Its ads free so you might love it... Tell me good, bad, ideas, rants, anything...I read every message nd reply to everyone... You can also join our little community at r/palamy.

And if you can’t do any of that… just smile at the next person you see.. A real one.. lips should spread from left ear to right.. The world needs more of those.
