Request location switch before or after internship

Hi all, I would like some feedback about a situation I'm in. I accepted an offer for 2027 to be a SA in a southern city (think Nashville/Houston/Miami), but I'm interested in switching office location to california to be near family (SF, LA, Irvine). Spoke with some previous SA's about location switch and they made it clear that if you network hard and do well during the internship, it's very likely I will be able to switch to the locations for FT after the summer.

My dilemma arose after I spoke with one analyst who told me they were able to make a similar switch (same city I want to be in) before their internship started. They said HR was very accommodating and granted the request. I did not think this was an option, but now I'm debating if it's worth a call. This would save me a couple months of networking with the new office during my next summer.

My question is: Would I at all jeopardize my current offer by asking HR if a location switch to CA for my SA offer is at all possible (while reassuring them that I am still super excited for my current offer). For context they are still accepting applications for my role.
