Should we hire an attorney for hit and run accident?

Location: Arkansas My husband and I were victims of a hit and run accident this past weekend that left me with a fractured rib and a fracture in my neck. We are both very sore and have some scratches and bruises. His car was completely destroyed. Most people can’t even believe we survived it. The police department just called me and told me they believe they found the person and are getting a warrant to get the black box tested in his truck. I’m not sure if this person has insurance but my husband only had liability insurance for his car. I know that attorney fees can be quite expensive but we both have ambulance and ER visits now, I had to follow up with my doctor, his car is totaled, and we are both missing work. What should I do?
