What's something people always assume about your language that isn't actually true?
Every language seems to come with stereotypes that get repeated so often that people start treating them as facts.
I'm not really talking about the obvious ones like "German sounds angry" or "French sounds romantic." I'm more interested in things that people genuinely believe about a language that turn out to be wrong once you actually learn it or grow up speaking it.
For example, a lot of people assume Chinese is just one language, when in reality there are multiple varieties that can be very different from each other.
What's something people constantly assume about your language that makes native speakers roll their eyes?
