Trying to connect my Canon Ixus 510 hs(Canon PowerShot ELPH 530 HS) via ad hoc

I am unable to connect to the ad hoc wifi. The name of the wifi ssid appears on my phone but when I enter the password and try and connect, it says failed to connect(network doesnt exist)

is there a fix to this?

also would like to know how if any older versions of canon camera connect are available for download so I can access the images from my phone
