According to this legal memo, Epstein got to keep his stash as part of his 2008 sweetheart deal
According to this legal memo, Epstein got to keep his stash as part of his 2008 sweetheart deal. And if you read between the lines, it's not hard to determine the reason: blackmail on powerful figures.
In this legal memo, attorney Robert Critton Jr. makes it very clear that the 2008 Non-Prosecution Agreemnent (NPA) requires Epstein to store his inventory of computers and paperwork in a safe and secure location... the same materials that private investigators (and apparently others) cleared from his house before the police raid in October 2005.

Based on the representations which you made to me, Bill, and your understanding of the obligation to preserve those personal items of Mr. Epstein inviolate pursuant to the terms of the Non-Prosecution Agreement in a safe and secure location, I advised you there is no reason for us to meet in that my responsibility was not to take possession, but to make certain that you continue to maintain Mr. Epstein's possession as set forth above.
If at any time, you are unable to maintain possession of those materials or have any concern whatsoever that Mr. Epstein's possession maybe compromised in any manner, please advise me immediately such that we can take the necessary actions to protect and preserve those materials as is required in the Non-Prosecution Agreement.
For background on what prompted this memo, here is the email from Epstein's private investigator William Riley asking attorney Robert Critton Jr. what to do with Epstein's stash of materials. It is unclear where they were being stored at the time, but by September 2010 Epstein was getting invoices from Manhattan Mini Storage in NYC. Roy Black also directed the hard drives of those computers to be cloned by a forensic specialist.

Over the weekend I learned that plaintiff's counsel are looking to get from me the computers and paperwork I took from Jeff's house prior to the Search Warrant.
I have them locked in storage and would like to know what to do with them.
They are no longer needed in the criminal case, I assume.
Here is proof those materials were subpoenaed in Epstein's criminal case in 2007, so it is likely that prosecutors had access to them during his criminal case.

All computer equipment and electronic storage media that currently belongs to, or has ever belonged to, Jeffrey Epstein, including but not limited to central processing units ("CPUs"), laptop computers, keyboards, printers, modems; routers, hard drives, flash drives, thumb drives, CD-Roms, DVDs, floppy diskettes, digital cameras, and memory cards.
However, it should be noted that private investigators weren't the only ones who supposedly removed materials from Epstein's house... it is alleged his assistant at the time Adriana Ross and an unknown man did as well.

First, it appears that Epstein was tipped off before the execution of a search warrant at his home. We know that lead state police officers -- Detective Recarey and Police Chief Michael Reiter -- complained that the house was "sanitized" by the time they arrived to serve a search warrant for child pornography. This sanitation was evident by the various computer wires hanging with no computers attached. Housekeeper Janusz Banasiak later testified In a civil deposition that Epstein's assistant, Adriana Mucinska (Ross) and another man (unknown) were instructed to remove, and did in fact remove, multiple computers from Epstein's home shortly before the search warrant was served. The fact that there could well have been a tip off is apparently suspected by federal authorities.
According to an FBI Agent, either Epstein or Roy Black was suspected to be tipped off about the search in 2005 by the court reporter at the The Fifteenth Judicial Circuit Court of Florida. Clearly Epstien had some sort of inside scoop on the FBI, because his private investigator William Riley followed an agent who was assigned to the case that was identified by Epstein.

Just FYI — The blog is, for the most part, completely nuts, but the link to William Riley is real. William Riley is the person who removed the computers from Mr. Epstein's house after Epstein or Roy Black somehow found out that I state search warrant was coming. (It was suspected that I court reporter at the state courthouse was the source of the leak, but never confirmed.) He also was one of the private investigators who investigated the agents and probably me during the investigation. Special Agent [redacted] was followed to her home this past weekend, but it is believed that it was I reporter (British accent).
Here is proof of Epstein directing William Riley in 2011 to follow the FBI agent who was referenced by another agent with knowledge of the case.
WE have come across a she worked until they I DO not want to put her on notice, but I have her address but can't figure out , how to ascertain if she ever really left the bureau, when she joined [redacted] or was she working with [redacted] on the inside,
I'll give it a shot. Very low key of course.
