J.A.C.K. – A Tauri + Rust proxy orchestrator with amnesic memory design
Hey, r/rust
I wanted to share J.A.C.K., a multi engine proxy client built with Rust and Tauri.
I wanted to build a client that coordinates proxy cores (eg. sing-box, xray, mihomo) without leaving config logs or files behind.
# Technical Details
Process Stdin Piping: Instead of writing JSON configs to temp folders, we spawn the engine processes and feed configs directly to their stdin stream.
Win32 Integration: Uses wininet APIs directly to configure and refresh the system proxy and handles advfirewall outbound rules programmatically via netsh commands.
Handshake State Machine: Built a custom SOCKS5 egress state machine to handle connection state transitions and reconnect loops:
[*] --> Idle
Idle --> Launching : connect()
Launching --> Connecting : process_spawned
Connecting --> Connected : handshake_success
Connecting --> Failed : handshake_error
Connected --> Reconnecting : connection_dropped
Reconnecting --> Connected : reconnect_success
Reconnecting --> Failed : retry_limit_reached
Failed --> Idle : reset()
