Possibly fake Campagnolo Ekar crankset bought on eBay, anyone seen this before?
Quick background: I got a new frame and decided to transfer components from my old bike. I already had Campagnolo Levante wheels but a Rival groupset, and used the opportunity to switch to Ekar. Bought the Ekar groupset on eBay (in hindsight, probably a mistake).
A few things about it don't add up:
- It shipped without bearings installed on the crank spindle, which I understand isn't normal for genuine Ekar (Campagnolo's Pro-Tech cranks are supposed to come with the bearings already pressed onto the spindle from the factory).
- The part number on the crank arms is FG21EK13. As far as I can tell, genuine Campagnolo Ekar cranksets use the FC21-EK13xx pattern instead.
- I bought genuine FC-EK009 bearings (25x37x6mm) to go with it, but they're loose on the spindle, roughly 1mm of radial play. Spindle seems to be smaller.
I'll upload photos shortly. Has anyone seen an Ekar crankset like this, or recognize the FG21EK13 part number? Trying to figure out if this is a known counterfeit or a 'special' edition
