Have u ever felt the same way ( stealing the spotlight)
I’ve been noticing a frustrating pattern lately where some women seem to intentionally overshadow others on days when they should be letting someone else shine. I wanted to see if anyone else has noticed this or experienced it.
Scenario 1:
At my friend's wedding, she spent a lot of time picking out specific mehendi designs and bangles. Her sister went ahead and got the exact same mehendi design before the bride did—it wasn't a coincidence. When the bride saw it, she was heartbroken and cried on her own wedding day. Why do this? Everyone gets their turn to be the bride, why steal your sister's joy?
Scenario 2:
I went to a birthday party for a young boy. There was a woman there dressed so extravagantly that she was the absolute center of attraction. I genuinely assumed she was the birthday boy’s mother. It turned out she was the aunt (the mom's sister). It felt so disrespectful to overshadow the mother on her child's day.
Scenario 3:
My friend (the bride) has a beautiful dusky skin tone, and her friend is fair-skinned. After the wedding makeup was done, the friend said, "You look so beautiful... I never thought that this makeup would look good on your skin."
To me, this felt incredibly cunning. It masquerades as a compliment but feels like it was designed to destroy the bride's confidence by bringing up skin tone biases on her wedding day.
Am I wrong for thinking this behavior is toxic? Is it intentional, or are people just that self-absorbed? Let people enjoy their one special day!
