Just watched the finale and I have so many questions
I started watching Widow’s Bay this week and was immediately obsessed, love the story and the comic timing, but I feel like there’s still so much that we don’t understand about the island, that’s no criticism to the writers/creators. I’ve been thinking a lot about the show, here are a few questions that came to mind after watching the last episode:
-
Haven’t seen a lot of people talk about this, but the thing with the teeth, in the first episode when the New York Times guy is at the historical society, Loftis says something about the founding father of the island coming into this untamed wilderness, and Gerrie pops in and says something about them finding teeth in the island. What I gather from it is that the island had people living in it and they all died leaving it empty once again, who killed them? Was it the entity that Richard makes a pact with?
-
The fog: ok so in the flashback episode, we see people are being affected by this disease, the ones affected look a lot like Shep did, the eyes and the violent behavior. But I think in the flashback Richard was already making sacrifices to the island and it didn’t stop the fog from having this effect on the people, is it unrelated to the creature?
-
The sea hag and the boogeyman: very confused about these two, it’s clear that there are a lot of weird shit in the island but I can’t understand how they are related to the creature that “rules” the island. I don’t think their kills count as sacrifices, it only makes sense to me that the sacrifices can only happen by the “hands” (or tentacles?) of the creature, and I don’t think that it would accept to eat people who were already killed, in the instructions tapes that Dale finds, it says that it’s important that the sacrifices are scared, dead people don’t feel afraid, they are dead.
-
We also have absolutely no evidence that ending the pact in Richard’s bloodline is actually going to make it so people born on the island can leave, I really don’t think it will, again, the teeth come to mind.
I think that’s all, I’m curious to see if anyone has theories on those points!
