Factory Reset Procedure and Interface Behavior for OpenGear IM7200 Infrastructure Manager

Hello OpenGear Community,

I am currently working with an OpenGear IM7200 Infrastructure Manager in our production environment and would appreciate clarification on the recommended factory reset procedure and interface behavior.

  1. What is the official procedure for performing a complete factory reset on an IM7200 Infrastructure Manager?
  2. Are there any differences between resetting an IM7200 and an ACM7000-series appliance?
3.Does the IM7200 revert to a default IP address after a factory reset? If so, what are the default IP address, username, and password?

Network Interface Questions

The IM7200 has the following management interfaces:
NET1 (c)
NET1 (s)
Associated SFP two interfaces

- Under what conditions does traffic utilize NET1 (s)?

- If both RJ45 and SFP ports are connected simultaneously, which interface becomes active?

Additional Connectivity Question Prior to Factory Reset

Before performing a factory reset on an OpenGear appliance, I wanted to verify connectivity to the existing configuration.

Test Setup

  1. I connected an Ethernet cable directly between my laptop and the OpenGear NET1 (c) interface.
  2. I manually configured my laptop with a static IP address in the 192.168.0.11 subnet.

Example:

Laptop:

  1. I had not yet performed a factory reset and did not know the current IP address configured on the OpenGear.

Observation

I observed the following:

  • The laptop detected a physical Ethernet connection.
  • The network adapter showed "Connected."
  • Link lights were active on both the laptop and OpenGear interfaces.

However:

Questions

  1. If an OpenGear appliance has not been factory reset, is it expected that the default IP address (192.168.0.1) would no longer be valid?
  2. Does the presence of a physical link on NET1 (c) only confirm Layer 1 connectivity?
  3. Is there a recommended method to discover the currently configured IP address before performing a factory reset?
  4. Can the current management IP be determined through the console port if network access is unavailable?
  5. Are there any LED indicators on the IM7200 or ACM7000 series that would help determine whether NET1 (c) is active and properly configured?

My goal is to determine the current management IP and validate connectivity before proceeding with a factory reset.
