2010 stereo CarPlay upgrade

Someone at some point told my husband that Jeep made it difficult to upgrade his factory stereo so he’s never changed it out. After reading on here and else where, it seems he was misinformed.

So I’m looking for recommendations on a CarPlay stereo to upgrade his 2010 wrangler factory stereo. I’d prefer flush mount if possible. Fairly basic, he doesn’t need a backup camera, etc. A physical volume knob would probably be a good idea although I know that might make the screen too small if it’s flush mount.
Something I could do with zero experience.
