10 month old regression

We've been doing lazy EC since the early days, like 1 month old. It's been great and we'll have streaks where we're catching at 2-3 poops a day (pees are rare). But now our LO is crawling and climbing and it seems like her zest for life is incompatible with EC.

When I put her on the top hat she's squirming around so badly. Everything is a distraction. She's always enjoyed chewing on a toy while pooping, but now she's just banging her toys on the wall while I hold her on the potty. After five minutes of forcing her to attempt a poop, I give up and let her crawl around.

Here's the part that confuses me, 5-10 minutes later she's pooping in her diaper. I think if she was able to stop, relax, and attempt she would poop in the top hat as she was doing a couple months ago. But her new toddler brain is too excited by the world to stop for a minute and focus.

When it happens, I've tried picking her up mid-poop, ripping the diaper off, and putting her back on the top hat. But that's no good too -- she never continues pooping like she may have done a month or two ago.

We haven't caught anything in several weeks. I'm considering just giving up and/or pausing for an indefinite amount of time since no one is enjoying this. Advice?
