Buying a used MacBook from local market in Pakistan — advice needed (posting from a friend's account, mine got banned)
Hey everyone, posting this from my friend's account since my own got suspended.
Looking to buy a secondhand MacBook from the local market in Pakistan (Karachi/Lahore-ish area) and want to pay via credit card if possible. Need some real advice:
- Which local marketplaces are most trustworthy for used MacBooks — OLX, Daraz, Facebook Marketplace groups, or actual laptop markets (Hafeez Centre, Mobilink Tower, etc.)?
- Does anyone actually accept credit card payment for secondhand laptop deals, or is it mostly cash-only?
- What should I check before buying — battery cycle count, screen burn-in, keyboard/trackpad condition, original charger, etc.?
- How do I verify it's not stolen or blacklisted (iCloud lock, Apple ID still linked to previous owner)?
- Any red flags or common scams to watch out for when buying used Apple devices in Pakistan specifically?
Would really appreciate advice from anyone who's bought a used MacBook locally. Thanks!
