No good detachment for 1000 pts game?

I just looked at the points for the detachments. I almost only play 1000pts game because my friends and I do not have the biggest armies and we enjoy the smaller battles. I know 1000pts games are mabye less balanced then 2000pts games, however I kind of struggled with guard at the end of 10th edition. I do not have a meta list just mix of a couple of things. In most games I used the combined arms detachment. I noticed it gave my army a decent boost and the reinforcements strat was nice to have. Now I see that this detachment is 3pts and in 1000pts game you can only use 2pts. I feel like this is a major nerve, next to the 75pts 10 men guard squad (which is even worse without this detachment). Also Grizzled ompany and Recon are 3 points so I can never use those in these games. I truly believe therefore my guard list is death in a 1000 points game, or I should go all in on tanks, which I dont really enjoy doing in a 1000pts game. Am I being to negative? I find it hard to see how to make a soild 1000pts list without any decent detachment.
