Question about danish gym culture

This is only in regards to the several pure gyms that I've been to, but I have to assume most are like this

From what I've observed in my 6 months living in Copenhagen and past visits in vestjylland, I am led to believe danes are usually very good at maintaining public spaces. Not much litter, theft, or general defacing antics.This is has got to be the cleanest city I've ever been to, and its the first thing I notice about other countries now.

Another thing my danish girlfriend loves to say is how danes dont like to take up much space. On the metro or in stores, I've noticed people almost afraid to get too close to me.

HOWEVER, these sentiments are left at the door when it comes to gyms. Plates all over the ground... like scattered in absolutely maniac locations. Equipment for cable machines as well in places where it seems so lazy not to return it since they make it pretty dang easy to. Laying on mats directly in people's way instead of the HUGE designated areas they usually have at puregyms. Peeps just disregarding my personal space all of sudden and almost NOBODY wipes down their machines or benches after using them (except for the olds and immigrants) so the whole place smells like BO...

Is it that danish gym culutre is more new? I see many wearing flip flops so that leads me to believe it isnt taken very seriously. Is that why? Is it just Copenhagen? Why must my gym be so disorganized?
