The Draft Is Less Than a Week Away and Sean Marks Is Starting to Scare Me

With the draft less than a week away, I can't be the only Nets fan getting nervous about what Sean Marks is going to do at #6.

For me, the pick should be simple: either MBJ or Acuff. One of them is almost certainly going to be available when we're on the clock, and both are players I believe have legitimate star upside while also filling a major need on this roster.

The thing that's worrying me is that I have this feeling Marks is going to get cute and take Ament at 6.

Don't get me wrong, I like Ament. If we were picking later in the lottery, I'd be all for it. But at #6? That's where I start getting uncomfortable. I just don't see the same level of certainty compared to MBJ or Acuff.

MBJ especially feels like a guy the Nets are high on. They visited him and his family, and everything we've heard suggests there's real interest there. If he's sitting at #6, I think Marks takes him without hesitation.

My fear is what happens if MBJ is gone.

That's when I start worrying that Marks falls in love with upside, reaches for someone, and passes on a prospect that many fans see as the safer and potentially better bet. We've seen front offices talk themselves into being the smartest people in the room before, and it doesn't always end well.

Maybe I'm overthinking it, but with the draft this close, I keep coming back to the same thought: if MBJ or Acuff is there at 6, just take one of them and don't overcomplicate it.

Anyone else feeling this way, or am I being too paranoid?
