Reasonable to slow down 401K/IRA Contributions at some point?
I am 30 years old with a pretty good job with good benefits. Through my employer I get 401k and a pension. Neither are great by themselves but together they are pretty good. My goal is to "retire" at or shortly after 50. I would not be fully retired though. The ideal plan would for me to do fishing charters in the summer and ski patrol in the winter. So realistically I just dont want to work a 9-5 for the rest of my life until retirement.
Retirement Assets:
401k - 60,500
Roth IRA - 71K
Brokerage Account - 53K
Pension estimate by the time I can collect - 30K per year
I never factor it in but I also suspect Ill receive an inheritance from my father. I hope he spends it all and lives forever but realistically Im sure i will receive something. I have a rough idea of his total assets but to be conservative I would call it 300K easily when that time comes.
Does it seem reasonable that ill be able to retire early? I want kids soon so i know that will change things. I also know health insurance will change things considerably also. So ideally I will have a wife that can support me there lol. Do these numbers seem like Im on a good path? Currently maxing IRA and good contributions to 401K. I want to start putting 100 a month into the brokerage as well.
Thanks for the input!
