Which CNY neighborhood feels completely different today than it did 10 years ago?

Discussion

I moved to Central New York with my family from Bulgaria in 1995, and our first place was a rental on Syracuse’s North Side. Like a lot of immigrant families coming to a new country, renting was all we could do at the time.

That experience makes me think a lot about how neighborhoods change—who can afford to live there, what gets built, what disappears, and what somehow stays the same.

I’m trying to get more local housing conversations going over at r/CNYHousing, so I’m curious:

What CNY neighborhood, town, village, or corridor feels completely different now than it did 10, 20, or even 30 years ago?

Could be because of development, restaurants, schools, housing prices, rentals, traffic, walkability, or just the overall vibe.

What changed, and do you think it’s been for the better, worse, or a mix of both?

Bonus points if you remember what it was like back in the ’90s.
