Half his age by Jenette McCurdy

I thoroughly enjoyed 'Im happy that my mom died' by her and I've been wanting to start 'Half His Age' for a while now. I've searched the book on lots of apps,and I keep hearing either bad reviews or tetra people have mixed feelings about it. Is it worth the read? Is it more of a commentary about abuse that is inflicted on a younger person (in this case in a school setting) or just straight up graphic scenes that don't comment on the horrible circumstances of the situation?
