How promising is this? Expecting an offer or no?
I’m 24F, graduated in 2025, hoping to start my first corporate role. Prior to this, I’ve started a business while in Uni, and worked with big worldwide brands as a full-time freelancer and independent contractor. The position I interviewed for is Assistant Marketing Manager. Shocked to even hear from them as they’re an MNC and I have zero corporate experience in my resume.
On Monday, I had a phone call with HR just screening my background and resume along with salary expectations. Earlier today, I did an interview with two hiring managers, who are also the directors of the department I’ll be working at. This is an expat role - in a different city and continent I’ll be stationed at should I be offered the position.
I’m normally confident and will get a feeling if I’ve aced an interview but this is the first time I came out of one feeling… unsettled. I’ve done my due diligence and preparation but 70% of the questions asked during the interview were complete curveballs, and mainly about how I’d navigate expat life in the city I’ll be working at, as the directors themselves who are also expats, said that adapting to that city and continent is relatively challenging and they have a completely new set of culture and laws to adapt to. They even mentioned how “slow” the pace of the locals there are, which can be a hindrance to our operations, and asked how I would navigate this. I was taken aback by this and felt like I hadn’t performed as well in my answers as I’d hoped.
The interview though, ran for the entire 30 minutes as planned and at the end, one of the directors asked me how long is my notice period should I be offered a position. I said 4 weeks and they nodded and seemed fine. They also asked me if I was completely willing to relocate to the city, given the hurdles they have openly mentioned to me about the local culture.
Both directors mentioned that there are still other candidates they have to interview and that the process in general takes “a few weeks” to hear back from them, and said to email should I have any questions about the role.
I can’t seem to read into this… which I know isn’t the point. Usually I get a feeling if I’ve done well but this time I’m left confused. It’s also my first time interviewing for an expat role at a globally recognised MNC. What are your thoughts?
