Inspired by [u/CtrlAltJackson](https://www.reddit.com/user/CtrlAltJackson/) here's my story on how I nearly died while urban exploring. Back in October last year, I was exploring and unfinished house with a friend of mine when we noticed one of the rooms had a hole in the floor. We kept that in mind, but later got distracted by the graffiti next to it and suddenly I wanted to take a photo next to that graffiti (right where the hole was)

While posing for the picture I stepped back and accidentally walked into that hole falling half my body deep and slamming my left hand on the concrete floor to stop myself from falling further. I slammed my palm with such force that it split my palm open instantly damaging my nerves and tendons, curling two of my fingers. I was bleeding like a river.

I rushed out of the house and went to grab a medkit from my friend's car. The bleeding was so intense that bandages were soaking up quickly.

My friend quickly dialed the emergency number, but since the house was pretty much inaccesible by GPS (no street, no house number) the operator had issues sending EMS to us. I had to run for 1/4 mile to the nearest public space for them to find me. I was rushed to nearby hospital where they had to put my hand in stitches.

Doctors said I was insanely lucky by missing more vital parts of my palm. I could have ended up with a paralized hand, or worse if I cut an artery. Luckily I walked away without major injuries, though my hand will take 12-13 months to fully recover (I'm on the 8th month right now and my recovery has been good so far)

Please wear gloves and other protective gear!!! Do not just walk into a ruin wearin nikes, a tshirt and no equipment like I did. And please do not go alone!! Imagine if I was alone while all of this happened, with no access to medkit.

Friendly reminder not to explore alone and without a gear!
