Help with son
(Please note: I am temporarily using my son's Reddit account to post this, as I wanted to reach out directly to a community he trusts without drawing unnecessary attention to his personal profile.)
Our family is preparing for a major relocation soon. It is a forced move for our teenager, meaning he will have to leave his current school, find a completely new friend group, and adapt to an unfamiliar environment.
Recently, he shared with his peers that he feels like people have a hard time truly understanding him. Through our conversations about his social life and his friends, I learned that he explicitly identifies with the term "femboy."
I want to be as supportive and affirming as possible as he navigates his identity. However, I am deeply concerned about how the upcoming move will impact his well-being and his ability to build a safe, understanding community in a new town.
What can I do to ease this transition for him? How can I help him find welcoming spaces and make supportive new friends in our next neighborhood?
