How is Dating in the film industry?

Curious how normal people/couples spend so much time apart when making films? This is one of the places I could think to ask this question.lol, so bear with me. My first time dating an actor. This person I'm dating is new to me, and dating an actor is new to me. But they're telling me it will be about 2 months before theyre able to have extra energy or time to devote to talking/hanging out/dating when the movie wraps. They have to learn their lines, study and then be on set. Is this normal ? Obviously I don't want to impose extra stress into a big life moment- being in a movie. So do people who date people in film really don't talk to their partners for months on end or is this person ghosting me? lol
