How important is plot clarity?
I understand plot clarity is important for sure but is it enough to like the script but also give it a low score? I personally like exiting a theatre being a little confused and then I look up the movie ending etc.
Here's the thing. A while back had a script get a 6 on the Blklst which I'd expect some decent notes. Reviewer said I had a great foundation, highly original concept. Tough sell honestly with this kind of period drama as it is not too commercial, but it is original and there would be actors easy to pitch for the roles. They also praised the script for great snappy dialogue. Each character is unique in their own way as well as the atmosphere.
Now I'm thinking, the weaknesses must be something that needs a lot of rewrites hence the 6. The main issues were plot clarity in certain sections among a couple of small things. A lot of movie goers would be confused leaving the theatre. Had to read certain scenes over a few times to understand what this character is asking or doing etc.
I fixed everything they mentioned with a few fixes in several scenes to make it clearer and got a few Story peer reviews and they liked and weren't confused, but doubt just making the plot a little clearer so anyone can understand it would drastically improve the script. Would it?
