Walnut faceplate
Call this a shitpost if you want, but I blame the walnut faceplate for the increased pr*ce. I work at a lumber mill, we make plywood for a living. The outer layer of hardwood (1/16th of an inch) is the most exp*nsive part of the plywood, especially when dealing with walnut. 8 foot by 4 foot by 1/16th inch walnut hardwood sheets c*st us around 80 doll*rs. And we use two per panel cause there's two sides to a piece of plywood. That's 4,608 square inches, times 2 divided by 16 = 576 three dimensional square inches of walnut. The steam machine is roughly a 6 inch cube, let's guesstimate the faceplate is half an inch thick, thats 18 three dimensional square inches of walnut. 576 three dimensional square inches of hardwood being 160 doll*rs (wholesale industrial pr*ce) would equal 144 doll*rs in three dimensional square inches pr*ce for valve. Add on consumer tax and vavle pr*fit margins and idk do your own m*th. These walnut faceplates are driving the c*st up. Walnut is exp*nsive and there's nothing we can do about it unfortunately. If you wanna be mad, be mad at the big nut industry as a whole.
