Estranged brother Zelle requested $50 from me

My family and I have had no contact with my older brother (35M) for about 2 years now. He was a heroin addict for the past 10 years and was enabled by all of us because we truly do love him so much. But after the moment of torment and abuse he gave to my parents (very vile and nasty shit he’d say and do) we all decided it’s best we finally go no contact.

He’s evidently gotten clean over the last year and is supporting himself for the first time without our parents help. A few weeks ago he reached out to my sister and I (I thought it was a spam call so I didn’t answer but she did) and he said he missed us and our parents and really wanted to reconnect with mom. My parents fell into complex medical issues this year and we decided now is not the time.

I reached out to him that week telling him I miss him. He reiterated something about how he wanted to talk to mom and dad but he will not conform to our norms [?] and I reiterated that now is not a good time, and told him mom got diagnosed with the big C. He replied ‘sorry to hear that. I’d like to talk to her sometime’.

I didn’t reply and there was no contact until now, he randomly Zelle requested me for $50 saying he needs some help just for today. I want to help but I feel very wary. Anyone have a similar experience that can share some advice? I’m cautious to give him money but also feel pretty shitty just ignoring him.
