Almost got murdered in a corn maze and did not realize it.
So Halloween is coming up and some friends and I visited a corn maze with some friends. Your typical experience where you run around a maze and people dressed in spooky costumes try to scare you.
We enter the maze and run around lost for a few minutes while people in costumes try to jumpscare us.
I got separated from the group for a bit, and ended up wandering around lost for a while. I peak around a corner and see a dude in a Scarecrow costume repeatedly stabbing a prop corpse while muttering something about "releasing the fear" or something like that.
I turn around and head in a different direction, when suddenly a crow lands next to me and starts cawing really loudly. I turn around to see the Scarecrow go fucking skipping towards me with his pitchfork.
I run like hell for a while and eventually run into my friends. I turn around and the scarecrow guy is gone.
My friends convince me that it was probably all part of the show. We eventually get out of the cornfield, and I start to hear sirens. The fucking police pull up and start asking us if we're ok, and if there's anyone else in there with us. I mention the Scarecrow guy.
We stick around and see the police pulling a bunch of bodies out of the corn maze. Apparently I'm the final girl in a fucking slasher movie and didn't even realize it.
I have not gone to a haunted corn maze or haunted house or anything like that ever since. Halloween is now spent at home, with a shotgun handy.
I'm also very wary of crows. That crow giving away my position to a serial killer was probably a coincidence, but I can't shake the thought that they're all out to get me.
