Ride quality w/off-road or all-terrain tires?

Not to beat a dead horse, but the '21 wheels are terrible. Most agree.

While searching for a better wheel, I came across a video of a dealer-lifted non-X-Pro w/AT tires. It looked really good. I have zero intention of lifting my X-Line SXP but wouldn't mind a more rugged looking wheels/tire set up.

That said, how's the ride quality like on comparable A/T tires? Also, if they're never driven off-road, how long might they last, treadwear-wise?

I may just resort to an 18" winter set up w ATs and a 20-22" spring/summer set.
