Holy moly. It happened *AGAIN* -- Instacart Shopper Scammed me (Round 2)

I'm a Customer

Relevant History (Round 1): https://www.reddit.com/r/instacart/comments/1quy5v6/update_well_an_instacart_shopper_scammed_me_and/

So, last week, I made another Costco order. When I checked the status, I see that the shopper had -- AGAIN -- updated the qty of various items and my order went from $300 to $600. I immediately knew what was going on, so I messaged the scammer. Same stuff, diff day. See image (which has been redacted because my last post was originally deleted by mods for including pic/name of instacart scammer.)

Of course, nothing was delivered.

Interesting notes:

  1. He shopped at a completely different (and much further) costco than the one that was closest to me.

  2. I tracked him and he got within a couple blocks of my house, then turned away, and moments later marker order delivered.

The next day, I logged into my Costco account to see what he actually bought (since it takes about 24 hours for receipts to show up.) And sure enough -- he had bought himself an iPad.

This time, instead of doing nothing, I reached out to the Costco he had shopped at, spoke to the GM. He found the guy who did it on video. Turns out he had bought two iPads, so scammed at least one other person at the same time as me.

*But here's the crazy part*

Manager called me back the next day to say he noticed the guy in the store again -- with more iPads! -- and he called the cops, and that they took him away.

Rot in jail, friend.
