Am I in a good spot to move to NYC?
Hello! As the title says, I recently lost my job in March and have been looking for a new position. I am currently living in Boston at home but I am looking to use the privileged position I have been put in hopefully to my advantage to move over to NYC (no student debt, rent, etc). I graduated with a degree in Finance and have 4 internships and a full time role on my resume now.
To give you a better idea, I graduated last year and I am 23. I have around 8k for a move out fund, another 10k as an emergency fund, and around 50,000 in investments. No rent I have to deal with right now, since I still live at home, and no job at the moment since I no longer work for my most recent one. Because of that, I am not tied down to a specific location, and have the time to do interviews for a new job in NYC, and after going to NYC many times, I am ready to make the move as I love NYC. It would be great for me professionally and socially and I am ready for the change.
I am getting interviews there and advancing in them and all I need at this point for the last domino to fall into place is to lock one of the jobs. These are for software sales roles, many of which would be giving me a base anywhere from 65-80k and most have an OTE of almost 100K starting out.
Would it be a good idea given the possibility of a lower actual base before commission for the short term?
