Day 4. Woke up without reaching for my phone. First time in years probably.
Didn't plan it. Just noticed it three minutes in lying there, eyes open, no phone in hand. That's never happened.
Sat with that for a bit.
Meditation felt different today. Not easier exactly, more like my brain stopped fighting it as hard. Like it's slowly accepting that this is a thing we do now.
Work was fine. Hit an afternoon wall and instead of reaching for my phone I just went outside and sat for ten minutes. Watched some birds. Came back and the wall was gone. I have no explanation for this.
Evening walk. No headphones again. Starting to prefer it this way which is strange because a week ago the idea would have felt uncomfortable.
Read before bed. Finished the book I've been referencing these past few days.
Read before bed. Finished the book I've been referencing. Won't go into detail here but that one idea about boredom that we've only ever experienced the first 90 seconds of it I keep coming back to it.
What I will say is there was one idea in it I keep coming back to. That boredom isn't actually what we think it is. We've only ever experienced the first 90 seconds of it. Everything after that we've never actually met.
Four days in. Something is quietly shifting.
Day 4.
