Jio IPO is actually happening. Are you buying or is this just another overhyped listing waiting to disappoint?
Mukesh Ambani confirmed at the AGM on June 19 that Jio has officially filed its DRHP with SEBI. ₹37,700 crore fresh issue. 524 million customers. Listing expected August-October 2026.
On paper this looks incredible. Largest IPO in Indian history. Bigger than LIC, bigger than Hyundai Motor India.
But here's my concern LIC IPO was also the "once in a generation" listing and retail investors who applied at listing price are still sitting on losses years later.
Jio at $137 billion valuation means you're buying in at a price that already assumes everything goes right.
Telecom margins, ARPU growth, AI infrastructure, everything.
And the ₹27,500 crore from the IPO is going straight to debt repayment not growth. You're essentially funding Reliance's balance sheet cleanup.
Existing RIL shareholders get priority quota which is nice. But for everyone else is this actually a good deal at this valuation or are we about to watch retail investors get excited, oversubscribe it 50x, get tiny allotments, and watch it list flat?
What's your actual plan — applying, skipping, or waiting for post listing dip?
