How scared of violent crime are you in your country?

I’m British 🇬🇧 (and a woman) and I’d say it’s v uncommon here! However, I still get freaked out walking home alone. I have been followed home before and one time when I was w my ex bf we got attacked by 2 guys. But this is VERY uncommon (we were just unlucky). But knife crime is defo scary here. One of my friends from school was murdered in 2019 and a few ppl I knew ended up in prison for getting involved in this nonsense.

My bf is Trini (born and raised 🇹🇹) and he said growing up you’d see “gun men” (like gang members that open carry guns) a lot in the streets but I didn’t see ANY gun men while there. Growing up there were extreme (and rare) cases of ppl being decapitated and left in the street as an example for other members of their gang. Today this kind of behaviour is much less common (at least where my bf’s mum lives) altho it apparently only got better in the last 3 years. When I visited his family, I was so scared the whole time at night. But actually everyone was super friendly and we didn’t see a single gun man or anything scary happen!

I lived in the US 🇺🇸 for a year and while there I would say I was quite scared about gun violence. Where my ex bf’s dad lived in Tennessee there were loads of ppl open carrying guns! I found this way more scary than any place I’ve been before tbh!
