FDA Blocks Dabur Import for dirty factory and fake records

Health

Dabur has a special factory in western India where it makes and packages products like Chyawanprash for sale in US. FDA can and makes physical inspection of the factory. What they found:

inaccurate lab and production records, missing documentation, weak cleaning/maintenance practices, "an apparent black substance on warehouse ceiling", A live bird and bird droppings were found in the raw material warehouse, about 30 feet from packaging materials.

Also to be noted is that in the export pack of Chywanprash it is called "Spread with herbs and spices" where as the Indian packs will say "Ayurvedic medicine" and "clinicaly tested". They cannot say that on an export pack because that would require even more real proofs and documentation which is impossible for them to give.
